The rise of the cloud offers new opportunities for gaming. Through the ability to offload intensive calculations not only leightweight clients like notebooks, netbooks and tablets get access to playing high-end games, but it also opens the doors to even more advanced graphics that couldn’t be done on a single machine today. In the article at the Intel Software Network we describe a research demo that uses real-time ray tracing to show new special effects for games. The calculations are done in the cloud on Intel’s Many Integrated Core (MIC) archictectures. Head over and learn more!

We showed a demonstration of this research at the 2010 IDF
